virginia beach dreaming

Just back from a nice mini-break with mummy, daddy, nan and jim

The weather turned nice just in time for us to hit the beach (but the water was freezing)

Highlights included:

stopping at Colonial Williamsburg and taking a horse and carriage ride with Nan and Jim

watching the sun rise over the Atlantic ocean

playing with mummy on the 'jolly roger' pirate shaped playground on the beach right in front of our hotel

and jumping waves in the freezing water!

Looking forward to having birthday cupcakes with Nan tonight

random nice thoughts

Tonight at bed time I asked daddy to tell me something he'd never told me before. He told me that sometimes at night when he's lying in bed he misses me. I told him that I miss him when I'm at school, but I know he'll come and pick me up at the end of the day.

...

I liked finding easter eggs on Tuesday that 'd I missed during our easter egg hunt on sunday

...

It's nice to have a nan who visits you from the other side of the world and buys you cool books like "dinosaurs love underpants"

(belated) barber shop post

On Saturday we took a walk to Ballston so I could go to the barber for the very first time

I was quite excited as Daddy had told me I'd get a lollypop when it was all done

To begin with I was quite keen

But when the barber put the cape on me and got out his trimmers I was a bit scared and took some convincing to stay in the chair.

Daddy held my hand under the cape and although I was on the edge of tears for the whole time I sat relatively still and got my first big boy haircut

Afterwards I was very happy to choose a blue lollypop and waved goodbye to the barber.

We tried to go to a puppet show as a Mummy/Keating date on Sunday - Jack and the Beanstalk - but this time I was not quite so brave

I told Mummy I was scared and didn't want to see the giant so we left as Jack started climbing the Beanstalk.

Next time we will try a puppet play with animals and no giants.

Snow Day!

Yesterday was our first snow day - mummy got to stay home from work and my school was closed.

In the morning it snowed quite hard but the ground was warm so it only stuck in some places.

We stayed warm inside and did some baking, some painting and we played the gingerbread man, where mummy has to pretend to be all the other characters in the book and I am the gingerbread man running away very fast.

Mummy and Daddy - happy to have a day together in the middle of the week

I also spied the Williams-Sonoma Easter catalogue and cut out all the pictures of the treats I'd like the Easter bunny to bring me. I've put them in an envelope so I can send them off.
My letter to the Easter Bunny - I even added a stamp

By the time the afternoon arrived the snow had turned to rain so any chance of going outside and building a snowman was gone.

So it was a little disappointing, but still nice to have a day at home in the middle of the week.

a cold dc weekend

After a long week at school learning all about 'Q' and 'R' this weekend was very busy looking at cars mummy might like to buy and going to museums

On both days it was very cold and we got a tiny bit of snow
Walking up the mall

On the way to the AirSpace Museum today we got distracted by the cool Chinese zodiac scultures outside the Hirshorn Art Museum

..then we went inside and it was very hard not to touch the art work. I was very impressed by the very very very long snake hanging from the ceiling that was made from backpacks.

After a refreshing snack of blueberries and pancakes we made our way to see the aeroplanes and rockets

But I was a bit too tired to take it in and fell asleep in the car on the way home

Baltimore MD

This weekend we went to Baltimore.

On Saturday we went to Port Discovery Children's Museum. It had a big adventure playground in the middle to the building and I climbed up and got a bit scared and had to be rescued by dad. The toddler room was a good place for me to calm down and I loved playing with the airpump and making the cloth butterflies fly up into the sky.

We visited the Wizard of Oz display and saw the great and powerful Oz and the witches' bicycle. I combed the Cowardly Lion's mane and helped out on the Gale's farm.

Sunday was sunny but very cold. We visited the National Aquarium. To begin with I was more interested in the pictures on the wall - close ups of lots of different sea creatures - that the tanks themselves. But once we found some turtles I was hooked. I also saw crocodiles and lots of sharks.

We watched 'Happy Feet' in 4D. I had to wear funny glasses and during the movie it snowed on us! Some snow went up my nose.

Scribblings

Keating writes "cat in the hat"

Mummy thought this was a ladybird, but of course it is a bear with m&ms in his tummy

A giraffe

Can you guess? it is a Cat!
