Spooky body parts museum and other highlights of Philadelphia

We have just arrived home from a weekend trip to Philadelphia

It drizzled all day on Saturday but after a walk down to Old Town we caught a double decker bus to see the sights

We saw lots of cool historical stuff - like the house where the star spangled banner was made and the Rocky steps!

We visited the Franklin Institute which is like a bigger, older Questacon. I walked through a two-storey heart with Mummy.

Poe was right..the sound of a beating heart is enough to drive you mad!
And tried to solve the mystery of 'who dung it' in the Circus room.

Then I fell asleep in Daddy's arms as we went around the Reading Terminal Market and got some yummy things for dinner, including Bassetts Mint choc-chip ice cream (which was so good I managed 3 serves)

Today we visited the Mutter Museum that is filled with Medical oddities. I thought the freakiest thing there was the body of a lady who was mummified by her own fat in the grave. There were lots of skulls and skeletons and various body parts in jars. It was pretty cool.

We stopped by Franklin Square for a quick play and a few goes on the Merry go Round before walking back through Chinatown to get some delicious hand pulled noodles to enjoy on our bus trip back to DC.

Summer daze

We hit the Rocky Run Park first thing on Saturday morning. I love it but Mum is a bit scared when I am 4-5 m off the ground with nothing but netting underneath me.

Then it was off to the zoo. We saw the Pandas for the first time (every other time we've been they've been hiding) and walked through some parts we'd never visited before where there were some cool crocodilians and seals.

The best part of the day was having ice-cream for lunch on our way home. Though playing with Daddy's new folding pool table was also pretty good.

Today I had a haircut - it was not fun and I do not like it (I think it is too short)

Daddy says it has aged me 2 years

What do you think?

I have also been bonding with Mummy over They Might Be Giants and their cool family podcasts. I am particularly fond of this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geTSBFb_GR4

slight change of plans

We were going to go to North Carolina for the Independence Day weekend - but Hurricane Arthur beat us to it

Instead we did the National Parade and Fireworks on the fourth. I was particularly excited by the soldiers and the Chinese Dragon

I also like the fireworks on Friday night. (and being carried most of the way home by Daddy)

Sunday was shark tooth hunting time and Monday was relaxing (I didn't get out of my pjs until after 3pm)

All in all feeling very independent!

Every heart rings true for the red and the blue!

sand between the toes

Had a lovely week in St Martin/St Maarten with mummy, daddy, Alex and my new best friend, Nadia

It was so nice swimming in the ocean and a few times we saw the fish swimming around our feet

We also went to Anguilla which was so tiring I fell asleep on Nadia's shoulder on the ferry ride back!

I danced with mummy in a Cuban bar and collected some cool shells

We explored forts on the French and Dutch side

The best thing was the animals we saw - iguanas; donkeys; cows; goats and not too many bugs

wild horses

This weekend I went camping for the first time

We went to Assateague Island where the wild horses roam

It was a bit overcast when we arrived but it meant setting up the tent wasn't too hot

I saw horses (and lots of horse poo); birds; and found lots of seashells

We had amazing homemade ice-cream for lunch on the way home

I'm keen to go camping at the beach again soon but I'll have to settle for staying in an apartment in the Caribbean next week.
