Just got back from the windy city

Had an action packed 4 days in Chicago to celebrate the beginning of summer

We started at the Lincoln Zoo and arrived just in time for the seal show. We also saw flamingos; rhinos; a huge tiger; zebras; giraffes; and wild dogs. I was disappointed that we couldn't find the Komodo dragon - we think he must be on vacation

We toured the city on our second day atop a double decker bus. The buildings were so tall! We learned a lot about the city and saw a lot too. We braved the famous Chicago deep dish pizza for lunch but were more impressed by the sushi for dinner before we headed to the Chase auditorium for a live taping of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me - NPR's news quiz. I was very excited to attend but didn't last much beyond the first hour.

We hit the Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum on Friday. We saw lots of cool fish and sea creatures at the Aquarium including a 80+ year old Australian lung fish named "granddad" who has been in Chicago since the World's Fair in 1933. The Field Museum is huge and has the most complete T-Rex skeleton ever uncovered. It was amazing to look at "Sue's" skull and see the damage done while she was alive and from the effects of being buried in the mud for so long.

We also checked out the mummies; the giant bug display; mammoths; and a pretty amazing evolution display with lots of dinosaur bones and heaps of other animal skeletons.

We finished the day with dinner at the Polish restaurant near our apartment. I was excited at how much our waitress looked like Elsa from Frozen.

We hit a new playground in Downtown Chicago on our last day and after wondering through the Blues Festival made our way back to our sushi joint for lunch. Then we navigated our way to the water for a kayaking tour on the Chicago river. I liked the ghost stories and kicking back while Daddy paddled me around for two hours.

Graduation Day

After a dry run last year, today I graduated Pre-K and said good-bye to Blue Bird Day School where I've been since soon after we got to America.

I opened the show with an alphabet poem.

We lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and stood with our hands on our hearts for the national anthem (Mummy says she really needs to teach me Advance Australia Fair)

Each of us told the audience what we want to be when we grow up (Thanks for the inspiration Aunty Emma - I am going to be a magician because they do cool tricks

After a dance I got a bit upset. I won't tell mummy or daddy why, so I won't tell you either

I was just keen to leave - didn't want to stay for pizza or even for cake

Now Pre-K is over and in September I'll start Elementary School.
