Belated Easter post

For Easter we took a little roadtrip to Culpeper and Richmond

I was happy because we got to stay in a hotel with a heated pool and mummy and daddy were happy because they did some antiquing.

None of us were happy that we hit a traffic jam on our way out of Washington and spent 2 hours travelling just one mile. It meant we missed out on the Bakery treats in Culpeper - they were all sosld by the time we arrived at lunchtime

Instead we stopped for yummy wood-fired pizza at a local deli
Not only did the hotel have a pool it had great wifi and some good space for practicing walking in mum's cowgirl boots.
On the way home we went for a bit of a walk in the woods and I got the chance to do some fossil hunting. Then we headed back to Arlington to see what the Easter Bunny had brought (minecraft hat! score!)

Our last snow storm (hopefully)

On Thursday it started snowing at 8am and didn't stop until after dark
Everything was shut so Mummy, Daddy and I were all home together
Daddy and I made gingerbread animals and we went out to play in the snow a few times
It is so much fun - but so wet

Let it snow

We had our first snow day on Tuesday this week and yesterday we had a big snow storm.
The snow fell from 10am until just after 5 when it turned to sleet
Everything is very white
Daddy and I made a great snow dinosaur in the front yard and had lots of fun having a snow ball fight.

Down in N'awlins (dancin' in the streets)

Of course you have to go south for Australia Day - so we headed down to NOLA - New Orleans Louisiana

We had such a great time checking out the food and the music in the streets.

I ate red beans and rice on Bourbon street and had a strawberry smoothie at the French Market that was so amazingly good I begged a second trip. I fell in love with French stick.

We saw some beautiful old houses in the Garden District and spent a lot of time enjoying the sun and the songs in the French Quarter; Daddy was keen to put his hand in the very dirty Mississippi; and we had a wonder through the oldest cemetery in New Orleans where they bury everyone above ground (because the ground is so wet).

I got stung by a bee on my first day - my first ever bee sting but it made everything else seem so much better - especially when I got a bendy Joker figure at the 50s store where mummy got a new dress and a Ouija board cardigan

Christmas in Nashville

Howdy y'all!
I'm back from Nashville and glad to share my photos with you
Highlights for me were the Nutella Crepes and Fresh Doughnuts at the Farmer's Market; walking around and checking out the town; falling asleep at  during most meals.

best birthday ever!

We went to Boston and had a long weekend to celebrate my birthday

I am a big fan of JetBlue - they actually have snacks on domestic flights and free luggage check in - and I can watch Cartoon Network as we are flying along.

The first day was a big day as we flew out of DC at 600am. By 900am I had been in a cab, a plane, a train, a bus and a tram. A big day for transportation!

We took a trolley tour of Boston and got out bearings though I must admit to falling asleep between stops 12 and 16.

At stop 16 we got off and visited the Boston Tea Party museum. No sight of Sarah Palin but I had fund throwing mock tea into the ocean. As I did all the folk around shouted 'huzzah!' in support of my treason against King George III.

Day two was a beautiful clear winter's day and after a dip in the heated pool at the hotel we went ice-skating. I struggled and mummy was not much better but we had fun.

After a quick stop for a Happy Meal (no boys toys left and only Hello Kitty!) we visited some gravestones for people who died before James Cook even set foot in Australia.

But day three was the best. It was my birthday !

Started the morning with some presents and a swim and then we braved the rain to catch the train to the Lego Centre. It was a great morning making lego, looking at other people's lego constructions, going on Lego rides.
Amazing gravestones with grim reapers and skulls

After a quick lunch we caught the train and bus back to the airport and were home in Arlington in time to open more presents before dinner.

Thanks to everyone for my lovely presents. Hope you got my Skype messages.

Glad to be 5.
